Built with Rohm’s MEMs technology the piezo-resistive sensing element outputs a signal which is proportional to atmospheric pressure. This signal is processed by integrated logic to yield accurate pressure information which is stable for the full temperature range. The sensor offers low power consumption especially for high accurate measurements.

The build-in I²C interface provides access to the measurement results in any kind of mobile or battery driven application. The sensor can detect differences in height (altitude) through pressure changes and capture movement data which suit them for use in wearable devices, activity monitors, altimeters and advanced detection for indoor navigation in smartphones and tablets.

Housed in a robust and compact 2.5 x 2.5 x 0.95 mm package, the ICs handle a wide pressure range of 300hPA to 1100hPA and deliver precise values of absolute as well as relative pressure accuracy. They feature a supply voltage of 1.71 to 3.6V, an average current of 5uA and operate in a temperature range of -40° to 85°C. The figure shows the effect of integrated temperature compensation function vs competitive designs.

Specifications:

  1. Pressure range: 300 hPA to 1100 hPA;
  2. Absolute pressure accuracy: ±1 hPA (typ.);
  3. Relative pressure accurancy: ±0.12 hPA (typ.);
  4. Average current (1Hz data rate): 5 µA (typ.);
  5. Operating temperature range: -40 to +85°C;
  6. Supply voltage range: 1.71 to 3.6V.
