A Digital Sensor Umbrella in the Alps will monitor all sorts of movements to make the Alps save
With the climate changes come the climate challenges. How to keep track on what is happening. A new technology, developed by GMD gmbh, creates a sort of digital umbrella, a safety net with sensors that track the movement of streams and rocks. Even the walking tracks can be monitored. This technology is based on the Infineon PSoC 6 technology and the AI for the data collection and analysis is provided by Deepcraft.
“Semiconductor solutions from Infineon are the digital heart of the Internet of Things,” says Thomas Rosteck, Division President Connected Secure Systems at Infineon. “Our high-performance microcontrollers not only impress with their first-class features, but also with their wide range of possible applications. ¨
Steve Weingarth, founder and CEO of GMD: “We are delighted to be working with Infineon, a leading international semiconductor company. In combination with our analytics platform, we can offer energy-efficient and cost-effective early warning systems. Since the beginning of our partnership as part of the Infineon Startup Challenge 2024, we have received great support and can already use the system in pilot projects.”
The sensor system works with solar electricity to make it operational in remote places. With more unpredictable weather situations due to climate changes, the startup company hopes to role out this network over the entire Alps – the first tests in the region of Kufstein are promising.
