The two companies have entered into a three-year non-binding technology partnership and supply agreement focussed on flexible display modules with integrated electronics.

Ynvisible’s printed electrochromic displays are suitable for smart packaging, IoT and healthcare applications, allowing low-power displays in novel thin and flexible shapes.

Ynvisible has worked with conventional silicon driver circuits for its displays but will now makes use of thin and flexible ICs from PragmatIC embedded within the printed display, to deliver a complete module.

Under the recently signed agreement, PragmatIC will develop and supply a range of FlexICs that Ynvisible will integrate into both standard and customer-bespoke display modules, with an initial focus on segmented displays for alphanumeric data.

“Ynvisible’s electrochromic display technology is a great match for our thin, flexible chips,” said Scott White, CEO of PragmatIC Semiconductor, in a statement. “Alongside our FlexIC Foundry, this accelerates our vision of opening up exciting new opportunities beyond RFID, such as smart medical devices and visually interactive packaging.”
