Printed sensor system solutions service supports design through integration
Leveraging the company’s materials expertise, the new offering allows for the highly optimized integration of Brewer Science’s printed InFlect family of flex, moisture, thermistor, gas, and water sensors into customer designs. This enables a plethora of new applications that, says the company, “take sensing where it’s never been before, with a faster time to market.”
The program is aimed at easing the design and implementation of sensor system solutions for IoT and industrial IoT applications. In order to achieve the desired form factors and sizes for such highly customized solutions, says the company, a combination of analog and digital engineering expertise, as well as specialized knowledge of printed and flexible sensors is required.
“Because the stimuli response of a sensor is based on the material science of the sensing layer, it’s important to fully understand the chemistry involved,” says Dominic Miranda, printed electronics business development manager at Brewer Science. “Materials can have a butterfly effect on the end device. With material science at our core, combined with a team that has deep embedded design experience, Brewer Science is uniquely qualified to take customers through the entire system development process. No other sensor provider can do this for its customers.”
The Sensor System Solutions program support includes designing a customized sensor so it responds to desired stimuli; integrating it with analog and digital electronic components for signal conditioning and processing; developing the associated firmware and software; and connecting the processor with communication devices for transmission to a network. The service, says the company, provides customers with a faster, more robust path to creating customized sensor systems, regardless of their in-house design capabilities.
