The E522.46 LED driver with its eight linear high-side driver channels has been developed with focus on lighting applications in and around the vehicle. Binning data for each single LED involved as well as multiple system configurations can be stored in the integrated EEPROM. The lighting intensity of each LED is adjusted through an analog master voltage and can be varied by means of individual PWM duty cycles. Through an integrated I2C interface, animations can be performed. Possible applications include front and rear lights, ambient interior lighting as well as infotainment backlighting and directional signal.

Input voltage range is 3.3V to 32V; each output pin can carry up to 200mA. The 8bit LED master level can be adjusted between 1mA and 26.5mA. The integrated current management is dimensioned for temperatures up to 165°C.

What’s more, the device has a number of diagnosis capabilities, including overvoltage and undervoltage monitoring, readable temperature and LED voltage as well as no-load voltage and short circuit. The chip is qualified according to AEC-Q100 and comes in a DFN18L540 package.
