Prototyping tool provides simple IoT access
Nordic Thingy:52 is battery powered, comes in a 60 x 60 mm case and features a nRF52832 SoC. The nRF52832 SoC has an ARM Cortex M4F MCU, Flash and RAM, peripherals, and a sophisticated power management system. The SoC runs Nordic’s S132 SoftDevice Bluetooth 4.2 qualified RF software protocol stack.
The Nordic Thingy:52 comes with a host of wireless sensors, including digital microphone and speaker, nine-axis movement sensor, ultra low power wake up accelerometer, and pressure, temperature, humidity, air-quality, and colour sensors. Some sensors are connected to switches to allow them to be manually turned off.
Although important, the hardware is opaque, as the Nordic Thingy:52 operates as an IoT “black box”, allowing the developer to rapidly configure and prototype software solutions.
