
PsiKick appoints veteran executive as CEO
Carmack has joined the PsiKick board of directors and Richardson moved to vice president of business development.
Carmack is a serial entrepreneur with more than 30 years technology industry experience. He was the CEO of Aptina Imaging Corp until its acquisition by On Semiconductor in June 2014. Prior to Aptina, he launched and ran the mobile business unit at Nvidia Corp.
PsiKick was founded by professors at University of Virginia and the University of Michigan in 2012 to exploit expertise in sub-threshold voltage operation of circuits and develop and sell battery-less IoT sensor nodes. Ben Calhoun and David Wentzloff are the company’s co-CTOs. PsiKick’s SoCs consume less than 20–microwatts.
The company was originally headquartered in Charlottesburg, Virginia but has relocated that function to Santa Clara, Calif.
