PSoC 6 MCU powers innovative Oura smart ring
Oura chose the MCU because of its flexible dual-core architecture, security features and integrated Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. The MCU is built on an ultra-low-power 40nm process and utilises low-power design techniques to provide the Oura ring with over three times the battery life of its predecessor, while the dual-core Arm Cortex-M4 and Cortex-M0+ architectures also gives a ten times increase in processing power in a package that is half the size. The BLE connectivity syncs with the Oura app and Oura Cloud and can provide Over the Air firmware updates. When the device doesn’t have a wireless connection, the PSoC 6 MCU’s integrated flash memory can store data for up to six weeks.
