Q-Pixel Inc. (Los Angeles, Calif.) has produced a 3K by 1K resolution active-matrix color microLED screen that measures 1.1cm by 0.6cm, smaller than a finger nail.
The display boasts 6,800 pixels per inch (PPI) with a 3-micron pixel and has been made entirely using microLED pixels, without any use of subpixels, quantum dots, color filters, polarizers, or mechanical stacking.
Q-Pixel’s displays consist entirely of III-V compound microLED pixels. These offer the advantage over organic LEDs of faster response time, higher brightness, longer lifetime, and superior energy efficiency.
Q-Pixel’s technology and prototype demonstrated at the Society for Information Display’s annual symposium and tradeshow, SID Display Week, May 14-16, 2024.
