Qualcomm Bluetooth 5 chip supports WiFi and ZigBee

These are the QCA4020 and QCA4024 which Qualcomm describes as tri-mode connectivity chips. The QCA4020, integrates Bluetooth Low Energy 5, Dual-band Wi-Fi, and 802.15.4-based technologies, including ZigBee and Thread, while QCA4024 integrates Bluetooth Low Energy 5 and 802.15.4.

The chips include a Cortex-M4 core for customer applications and a Cortex-M0 to host Bluetooth Low Energy drivers and 802.15.4 control and security functions. The QCA4020 and QCA4024 have hardware-based security featuring secure boot, trusted execution environment, encrypted storage, key provisioning and wireless protocol security.

The QCA4020 and QCA4024 are sampling to special customers and are expected to be available in 2H17.
