The appointments have been made to help expand sales and marketing, to increase the size of operations and extend product development in support of new customers and applications. Qualtre has developed a specialized form of MEMS gyroscope based on degenerate bulk-acoustic wave (BAW) modes of circular disks of silicon.

Prior to joining Qualtre (Marlborough, Mass.) Harper led marketing initiatives at Bluespec Inc. (Framingham, Mass.), a vendor of high-level synthesis tools. Gilbert was previously vice president of backend manufacturing at Lilliputian Systems Inc. (Wilmington, Mass.), an innovator of solid-oxide fuel cells for consumer electronic products that closed down in 2014.

"Each of these leaders brings significant passion, knowledge and skills to Qualtre’s foundation as an innovator and leading supplier of BAW MEMS motion sensors for industrial and high-end consumer applications," said Edgar Masri, CEO of Qualtre, in a statement. "Their combined experience will immediately accelerate our production and marketing efforts, bring our unique and highly competitive sensor technology to design engineers, and help create long-term strategic relationships with a growing list of customers."
