Amazon Braket is service from Amazon Web Services that provides a development environment to explore and design quantum computing algorithms, test them on simulated quantum computers and then run them on a choice of quantum hardware.

Amazon Braket users will gain access to Rigetti quantum processors based on 32-qubit superconducting chip technology. For customers running applications on AWS it will be possible to integrate quantum computing into existing applications.

“By collaborating with AWS, we will be able to deliver access to our systems to a much broader market and help accelerate the growth of this emerging industry,” said Chad Rigetti, founder and CEO of Rigetti & Co, in a statement. “Together, we can make it easier for researchers to innovate, with the shared goal of realizing the true long-term potential of quantum computing,” said Simone Severini, director of quantum computing at Amazon Web Services Inc., in the same statement.

Rigetti, founded in 2013, has offices in Berkeley and Fremont, California; Washington, D.C.; Adelaide, Australia; and London, UK.
