Quick developments with ARM-based microprocessors
The new ARM-based starter kit includes all relevant elements of a development environment such as mainboards with CPU cables, adapter cards, LCD panels and power supply. Thanks to the support from Rutronik, users can expect an easy entry as well as assistance for development and operation.
In parallel to the ARM starter kits, an integrated Linux operating system image that enables users to immediately start their evaluation activities has been released. Other operating systems such as Android, Yocto Linux and Ubunto are available for several application environments as well and are verified for download. The source code of these operating systems is freely available to users to simplify application development. In addition, Advantech offers tools that support, among others, the application development environment Qt, a cross-platform tool for device development, for the development of the user interface, as well as the Advantech WISE-PaSS/RMM APIs to access, control and monitor devices. All these add-on software offerings are completely certified and available free of cost.
Besides support at the O/S level and software tools, the ARM starter kits include support services such as a design-in service with referenced PCB layout, layout and circuit schematic review, operating instructions, individualization and manufacturing services. Setting the ARM starter kits up takes just ten minutes, the vendor claims.
The starter kits are available through distributor Rutronik (www.rutronik.com).
