Radiation hardened isolated DC-DC converter for space applications

The MSK7010RH is a series of 10W, 500kHz DC-to-DC converters that are radiation hardened by design to provide reduced sensitivity to space radiation. This includes total ionizing dose, single event effects and displacement damage. The use of magnetic isolation eliminates the risk associated with traditional opto-isolator feedback.

“Our first isolated DC-DC converter, MSK7010RH, offers higher efficiency and many internal protection features that make it a highly reliable product for the power conversion system as well as the harsh space environment,” said Mark Kosalek, Vice President of Business Development at Anaren in the US.

The MSK7010RH series offers a unique user programmable over current latch off feature, with the option to bypass to allow for a typical constant current limit application. The 3.3V output version is the first release in the 10W series and is designed to operate from a MIL-STD-704 compliant power bus and provides an output voltage of 3.3V while delivering greater than 3A of output current with a fixed switching frequency of 500 kHz. 

The MSK7010RH is offered in hermetically sealed 7-pin power pack with straight or formed leads package.  It is available using qualified MIL-PRF-38534 (Class-H and K) production flow. Engineering development units, industrial grade devices and TOR compliant devices are also available.
