Radxa has launched a single board computer (SBC) using the MediaTek Genio 1200 AI processing unit (APU).

The NIO 12L SBC runs the Ubunto Linux operating system from Canonical on the four ARM Cortex A78 and four A55 cores in the Genio 1200. The 6nm chip also has an ARM Mali=G57 MC5 GPU and a dual core custom APU developed by Mediatek. The APU supports INT8, INT16, or even precision focused FP16 data, for deep learning (DL), Neural Network (NN) acceleration, and Computer Vision (CV) applications.

The APU supports AI-driven tasks, such as machine learning, computer vision, and predictive analytics natively for real-time embedded processing.

In collaboration with Canonical, the NIO 12L will ship with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS pre-installed, providing a secure, long-term supported environment for software development and deployment and includes enterprise-grade security.

The NIO 12L is now undergoing the Ubuntu Certification process with an extensive set of over 500 OS compatibility focused hardware tests and will be listed on Canonical’s certified hardware list when ready.

Radxa aims to make the NIO 12L available worldwide, with purchasing options through a well-established network of distributors and online retail channels including RS-subsidiary Okdo.
