Raspberry Pi gets rapid prototyping for monitoring and control applications

By eeNews Europe

Manufactured by Digilent, and branded using the DesignSpark label, the Pmod HAT adapter is a plug-in peripheral that allows prototyping without soldering. Python code for analogue Pmod functions has been developed already to allow users to get started quickly on monitoring and control applications. Pmod adapters are already available for the Arduino and PSOC6 platforms, allowing control projects to be carried out by Cypress PSOC and Arduino-R3 users.

The Pmod adapter for the Raspberry Pi can be used with the Model A+, Model B+, Pi 2 B, Pi 3 B, and the Zero and Zero W boards. The Pmod board is also expandable, allowing other Digilent Pmod boards to be added. These boards are also available from RS and include the PmodAD1 two-channel 12-bit ADC module, the PmodISNS20 high-accuracy Hall Effect current sensor, and the PmodOLEDrgb, an organic RGB LED module.

The DesignSpark Pmod board has a 40-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO header with 26 3.3V-compatible GPIOs, support for SPI, I2C and UART connections and a 5V barrel jack for external power.
