By means of pulse width modulation (PWM) or analog signal, the drivers can be dimmed to zero. The PWM input can be connected to a microcontroller which manages the communication. The efficiency of the buck controller is up to 96%, the operating temperature range is specified from -40°C to 85°C. For the PCB assembly the module is available with pins or wires. The most powerful version which drives up to 1200mA comes in a metal package; all other versions are provided with plastic casing. All drivers are certified according to EN/UL609020-1. Mean time between failures (MTBF) is with 1.7 million operating hours very high.
The buck converter is designed for use in long LED chains and in multi-chip arrays.
