Neuchips Inc., a developer of AI ASICs for recommendation, has received $20 million in backing from Wistron, JAFCO Asia, Powerchip Group and Raydium Semiconductor Corp.
“We are excited to have Raydium join as a new investor,” said Youn-Long Lin, CEO of Neuchips, in a statement. “I am also pleased that our existing investors, who represent leaders in the worldwide semiconductor and cloud ecosystem, continue to support our growth plans.”
The funding is expected to accelerate delivey of the RecAccel-N3000 inference platform to cloud service providers.
Neuchips recently taped out its first deep learning recommendation model (DLRM) accelerator, the RecAccel-N3000 will be manufactured in TSMC’s 7nm process. It is expected to achieve one million DLRM inferences per joule of energy or 20 million inferences per second per 20-watt chip.
The AI accelerator, developed with support and EDA tools from Synopsys and other semiconductor industry leaders, is expected to sample at the end of 2022.
