
Renesas announces European MCU car rally winners
There were 28 teams from 16 universities all over Europe competing for the prize in Nuremberg. Those teams were made up of around 150 students and professors. Each team had to develop a model rally car that would follow a white line on the competition track using sensors. The cars would have to use a Renesas RX MCU for system, motor and power control. Judging was based on a timing system that was designed using the Renesas Synergy Platform. Teams would be judged over five laps of the circuit, which was built in the atrium of the Nuremberg Messe.
Team Road Runner from the Gheorge Asachi Technical University of Iasi, Romania took first place with a time of 02:38.4 minutes for the five laps. The runner-up team was also from Romania – FasTech1 from the University of Craiova completed the course in 03:08.3 minutes. Third place was taken by Brockenblitz from the German Harz University with a time of 03:19.0 minutes.
Prizes for the winners included an Apple Watch as well as Fitbit trackers and levitating loudspeakers for every team member.
