
Renesas drives into WiFi6E as it completes Celeno deal
Renesas is paying up to $315m to acquire a wide range of wireless communication technologies with Celeno, including compact WiFi6 and 6E chipsets for high bandwidth links at 5GHz and 6GHz and software for high-performance home networks, smart buildings, enterprise and industrial markets.

Renesas will add the technology and software to its connectivity portfolio, sitting alongside Bluetooth technology from Dialog Semiconductor acquired earlier this year.
The company plans to combine the Celeno WiFi chips with MCU/MPU/SoC processors, wireless ICs, sensors and power management technologies, creates a comprehensive, end-to-end connectivity solutions for both clients and access points addressing IoT, infrastructure, industrial and automotive applications.
Celeno will be a business unit in Renesas, retaining the design centre and R&D staff in Israel to strengthen the Renesas global engineering and software development talent base.
