The report appears to confirm rumors from 2014 (see Is Apple preparing to design image sensors in Grenoble?) and that work has been going on jointly between Apple and STMicroelectronics at the Minatec campus in Grenoble.

The report in ledauphine states that a lease has been signed between Apple and the city authorities of Grenoble allowing a cleanroom to built in the Cemoi building at 12, Rue Ampere.

The laboratory and cleanroom will occupy 800 square meters, reports said.
