rFpro contributes photorealistic visualization to simulation tool
With rFpro, IPG Automotive is now working with a partner who has a large library of high-definition photo-realistic models of public roads and OEM test tracks. With the implementation in Release 6.0 of the CarMaker product family, OEMs and suppliers can carry out virtual driving test for both cam-based driver assistance systems and automated driving functions on a much more sophisticated level.
rFpro’s photorealistic visualizations enable high-quality virtual scenarios such as special weather conditions relevant to driving conditions. Examples are fog, low sun in the winter months, reflections or even faulty road markings – all in real-time and HDR simulations. It is also possible to use several synchronized camera feeds from rFpro with these properties. “With the expansion of the product, we underline our claim to represent the real driving test to the highest degree in a realistic and reproducible manner, and complement our 3-D visualization tool IPGMovie with the wide range of functions that rFpro offers with its visualizations” says Martin Elbs, head of development at IPG Automotive.
The partnership between IPG Automotive and rFpro goes even further: the scenarios created with the simulation solutions of the CarMaker product family will also be visualized in the rFpro environment by using a corresponding HDR rendering engine. If, for example, you make changes to the weather settings in CarMaker, the weather scenarios are automatically re-rendered. Thus, extensive test catalogs for ADAS and training data for deep learning algorithms can be configured.
In addition, the high-quality digital models of real public roads and test tracks produced in rFpro can now also be combined with radar, lidar and ultrasonic sensor models from IPG Automotive.
