RISC-V pioneer raises funds for IoT, automotive
Chinese RISC-V processor IP company Nuclei System Technology has raised hundreds of millions of yuan (100 million yuan is about US$15 million) in an additional funding round.
The money will be used for a series of RISC-V layouts in the fields of security, automotive electronics, and artificial intelligence to meet needs of AIoT and automotive electronics, the company said. It would also be used for the verification of hard-core IP technology based on chiplet interconnection.
Nuclei was founded in 2018 by Bob Hu is the creator of the first open-source RISC-V core in China – the Hummingbird E203, and the author of the first RISC-V book in Chinese. Subsequent to the Hummingbird E203 Nuclei released the N200 series of low power RISC-V core IPs for IoT applications.
Nuclei has more than 100 customers and is supported by development tool maker IAR Systems in Sweden.
