At the opportunity of the opening ceremony, the Munich, Germany, based Rohde & Schwarz aired its intention to further invest in Singapore. CEO Manfred Fleischman emphasised that Asia is a very attractive growth market. "The mobile radio business alone is huge", he said, adding that the local vicinity to its partners in Asia is a success factor.

Having launched its presence in Singapore 17 years ago with seven employees, the new facility is the place of work for more than 350 electronics and measurement systems experts, and the company announced to continue to expand its headcount in the years to come. In this context, the company announced a close collaboration with local universities. In a joint memorandum of understanding, R&S and the Singapore Electronic Development Board (SEDB), both partners said they would offer opportunities for research activities for Asian graduates.

The significance of the new facility with its seven-story building in Singapore’s Changi Business Park becomes obvious by the fact that it represents Rohde & Schwarz’ first global hub outside of its home country Germany. With R&D, manufacturing, global sourcing and supply chain management, Rohde & Schwarz covers the entire value chain at this place. Besides Rohde & Schwarz Asia, Singapore also is home to R&S’s regional headquarters which controls the companies business activities in Asia / Pacific, Near East, and Africa with IT, marketing and business development services.
