The transfer is scheduled for October 2019 with ROHM handling sales of these products to Panasonic’s current customers until the details of the transfer are confirmed.
ROHM has the largest share in the small signal transistor and diode markets globally, competing with Nexperia, and is expanding its business in bipolar transistors, circuit protective Zener diodes, TVS diodes and other products. Thi sis to address the growth in the automotive electronics, industrial equipment and other application markets.
The deal will expand its market share, taking on Panasonic’s bipolar, built-in resistor and Junction field-effect (JFET) small signal transistor lines as well as Schottky barrier, TVS, Zener, Switching and Fast recovery diodes.
ROHM will outsource production to Panasonic and maintain the exact same supply structure as before until the transfer is complete.
The company has also been building up its capacity in Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistors as part of this focus on automotive and industrial applications.
