Rohm, Geely join forces for SiC power devices
Both companies have been working together on a variety of automotive applications since 2018. This partnership is expected to further foster collaboration and accelerate innovation for automotive applications.
Like virtually the entire electric mobility industry, Geely is working to increase the range of electric vehicles while reducing battery costs and shortening charging times. As part of this, highly efficient drive inverters and on-board charging systems are being developed to take advantage of Rohm’s advanced power supply solutions using SiC power semiconductors. Another focus of the collaboration is on communication ICs and discrete components that will be used primarily in sophisticated ADAS and intelligent cockpit systems.
As a first step, drive inverters equipped with Rohm’s SiC power semiconductors will be integrated into electric vehicles currently under development at Geely.
With the partnership, Rohm and Geely also aim to promote the development of low-carbon technologies in the automotive industry and offer safety-relevant solutions for mobility.
