Roll clad strips with adhesive copper-aluminium bonds act as battery cell connector

This calls for adhesive bonding at both terminals while minimizing power transmission losses. The roll clad strips of Heraeus consist of a copper and aluminium part and can be used as a cell connector. The connection of these two metal parts with each other is done by roll cladding and subsequent tempering in such a way that the current is transmitted as losslessly as possible. Hence, an adhesive bonding (Al-Al and Cu-Cu) emerges at the particular positive and negative terminal, for example by laser welding, to yield a monolithic system. The power is transmitted from terminal to terminal via the roll clad strip, without any loss. Such a cladded semi-manufactured metal strip approach can also find applications in IC packaging.
