With the introduction of the MagicScroll, the Human Media Lab, Queens University, the ancient papyrus roll and the iPad has been brought together in one, new device. The MagicScroll is designed around a 7.5 inch flexible screen with 2K resolution.

This design is introducing a completely new interaction: no swiping, but rolling. The screen is attached to a 3D printed cylindrical body which contains all the electronics and the power. Two rotary wheels on each side of the cylinder allow the user to scroll through the information. The screen can be unrolled and be used as a touch display. Led by bendable-screen pioneer Dr. Roel Vertegaal, this new technology is set to push the boundaries of the flexible device technology into new territories.

The new technology is presented at the https://www.hml.queensu.ca/blog/magicscroll conference in Barcelona on September 4, 2018.
