Rutronik adds Nordic Thingy:91 IoT prototyping kit
Based on Nordic’s nRF9160 SiP, the battery-operated kit uses the company’s nRF52840 for short-range radio connection. The kit offers a wide range of sensors and interfaces for flexible proof-of-concepts and prototype builds.
The nRF9160 SiP has a separate application/radio modem architecture to ease development and boost performance. This dedicated radio system supports LTE-M, NB-IoT and GPS for precise positioning. The SiP also uses an Arm Cortex-M33 for an application processor with Arm TrustZone for secure boot and execution within the device.
The multiprotocol nRF52840 SoC provides a broad range of protocols including Bluetooth 5 and NFC. It includes a pre-loaded asset tracking application that uses many of the on-kit sensors as well as LTE-M and GPS for out-of-the-box asset tracking and monitoring. It can also be reprogrammed with any other dedicated application. The kit has a Nano/4FF SIM card slot with a SIM card for an instant start to development.
