SafeOS now supports the special requirements for such devices. With current processors, savings of up to 80% for RAM and up to 30% for ROM are possible. Both channels are processed directly from the flash memory. SafeOS executes pure machine code on two diverse channels (SIL3). This ensures extremely short response times of the safety function. The high diversity of the compiled application program enables the use of SafeOS even on a single processor. In the latter case, a certification up to SIL2 can be achieved with moderate hardware requirements (e.g. use of an external watchdog). Thanks to the high error recovery of the software, it is possible to reduce appropriate hardware measures. Safety level SIL2 is the correct choice for many safety functions, for example, in the field of transportation.
