Samsung breaks new ground in Dresden with new Novaled fab
Novaled’s doping technology has become a quasi-industry standard and its materials are being found in most smartphones, tablets and other OLED displays, as well as in OLED lighting such as Audi TT taillights and organic solar cells. As a parent company, Samsung reportedly purchased the property and is to invest over 20 million euros in the Dresden location, making a clear commitment to further develop Novaled in the region.

The construction work for Novaled GmbH’s new headquarters started last week in the north of Dresden with the symbolic first ground-breaking in presence of the city mayor Mr. Hilbert and Novaled management board and partners.
In the next few months, an old mill, a listed monument, will be renovated and converted into a prestigious office building on the 10,200 m² site at Elisabeth-Boer-Straße.
As part of the investment, a 110-meter-long R&D plant is being built, equipped with a state-of-the-art research area, class ISO5 and ISO7 clean rooms as well as laboratories. Once the new building completed, the Novaled team will have an extra 6,160m² of floor space for the development of materials for premium OLEDs and organic electronics.
