The kit is offered as providing everything needed to monitor, control, and secure a home at a more affordable cost than traditional home security systems. It enables users to receive immediate alerts on any unexpected entries or movements in their home, as well as control their home remotely.
The kit includes the new SmartThings Hub, two multipurpose sensors, a motion sensor, and an outlet. The Hub connects smart sensors, lights, locks, cameras and other home devices, while the sensors detect motion and monitor the open/closed status of doors and windows. The outlet controls lights, electronics and small appliances.
The kit works with the downloadable SmartThings app, which is available for iOS and Android. With the app, users will not only receive alerts and be able to take action on any home activity, they can also arm and disarm their home as needed, as well as add additional compatible smart devices to their home.
SmartThings works with products from Samsung, Bose, Schlage, Yale, Cree, Osram Lightify, Honeywell, First Alert, and other brands. The SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit is available now at major retail stores for $249.
