Samsung set to make Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888
The chipset includes an X60 5G modem able to support millimeter-wave and sub-6GHz communications as well as 5G carrier aggregation, multi-SIM and dynamic spectrum sharing. Within the Snapdragon 888 the Hexagon DSP processor has been re-engineered to better support artificial intelligence and offers 26 tera operations per second. The chipset also includes a sensing hub, which incorporates lower-power always-on AI processing.
An upgrade to the Adreno GPU supports improved gaming performance.
Android phones from Xiaomi Corp. and LG Electronics for release in 2021 are expected to be based around the chip as could the Samsung Galaxy S21.
