Sateliot signs ExoLaunch for four 5G IoT satellites
European operator Sateliot is to launch four satellites with ExoLaunch and SpaceX next month to start its commercial IoT service using 5G technology.
Spanish operator Sateliot aims to start a 5G-IoT satellite service with the four 6U CubeSats to connect unmodified commercial cellular NB-IoT NTN devices from space with German rideshare provider ExoLaunch.
The launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with ExoLaunch will take place from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in July and follows €200 million in contracts from 400 customers.
Sateliot says it plans to deploy more satellites by 2025 and is working on its €30 million Series B funding round.

Sateliot has raised €25 million since 2018, including €6 million from Banco Santander. Sateliot’s business plan projects revenues of €500 million in 2027 and €1 billion in 2030 to fund its proposed constellation of 250 CubeSats.
Each of the four 10kg CubeSat 6U satellites measure 20 x 10 x 35cm and cost €500,000 and will orbit at about 600 kilometers altitude and have a lifespan of over five years. The technology will provide connectivity to more than eight million devices already subscribed to the service, which uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the core network.
“With this launch, the company enters a new dimension that will allow Spain to lead IoT connectivity on a global scale,” said Jaume Sanpera, CEO and co-founder of Sateliot.
“Partnering with Exolaunch marks a significant milestone for Sateliot as we continue our mission to revolutionize 5G IoT connectivity from space. With Exolaunch’s expertise and industry-leading services, we are confident in the successful launch and deployment of our next four satellites, further advancing our vision of ubiquitous IoT connectivity,” remarked Jaume Sanpera, chief executive officer at Sateliot.
“We are delighted to welcome Sateliot as our newest customer and partner,” said Pablo Lobo, mission manager at Exolaunch, which has also launched s. “This agreement highlights Exolaunch’s dedication to facilitating the growth and success of innovative European companies like Sateliot. Exolaunch is proud to provide our industry-leading services and technology to support Sateliot’s vision of advancing 5G IoT connectivity from space.
