
Schaeffler to launch e-mobility business unit
The electromobility division will start its operations on January 1st, 2018, explained Schaeffler board chairman Klaus Rosenfeld. The unit bill bundle all products and systems solutions for hybrid and electric vehicles. In addition to the German headquarters for the unit, Schaeffler plans to establish a competency center for electromobility in China.
Currently, Schaeffler is working on eight major orders to develop electric and electrified powertrains and hybrid modules from car makers around the world, explained Matthias Zink, one of the two CEOs of Schaeffler’s automotive division; the number of customer projects is rising continuously, he said.
