This new standard of the IATF (International Automotive Task Force) represents one of the strictest and most demanding certifications, calling for the highest system and process quality standards at a company.
Schurter optimized its internal workflows and the documentation for all its products and production processes was refined down to the most minute detail. Even management was included and held accountable. In the future, there will be a greater integration into all process and production phases.
Going through a continuous optimization process, the company aims for zero errors, hence its new certification is not important just for automotive customers but for all of Schurter’s customers, the company claims.
The new IATF 16949:2016 standard was published in October last year, replacing ISO/TS 16949:2009. The aim of the revised IATF 16949 standard is continuous improvement of the system and process quality of companies in the automotive industry. The continuous optimization process is intended to increase customer satisfaction, detect errors and risks in the production process and the supply chain, eliminate their causes and check the corrective actions and preventive measures taken for their effectiveness.
