Secure platform brings variety of high-speed connectivity choices for the connected car
The foundation of the Platform for the Secure Connected Car is Green Hills INTEGRITY RTOS and Multivisor secure virtualisation to allow partitions to isolate non-critical systems and critical applications. The software package will now use u-blox’ portfolio of connectivity modules to enable communications between different vehicle functions. Vehicle developers will be able to use open-source software without compromising safety while performing critical applications.
At the heart of the connected car is the Telematics Control Unit (TCU), which must have absolute embedded device security to manage data from critical and non-critical systems. The TCU also is the gateway to external data, such as OTA firmware updates, as well as being the main method of making transmissions to external receivers. With the integration of the technologies, u-blox will provide the technology for that data exchange through the company’s positional systems, short-range wireless and cellular radio technologies, while Green Hills provides the embedded run-time environment.
