SII Semiconductor was established in September 2015 in a 60:40 joint venture with the Development Bank of Japan, which takes 100% ownership in January.
The new company name of ABLIC comes from combining ABLE and an IC. It has 823 employees with a focus on analogue devices such as voltage regulators and temperature and magnetic sensors.
However, with a bank as an owner the prospect is a sale to another semiconductor house. DBJ is an investor in a consortium looking to buy Toshiba’s flash memory operation.
