Self-charging headphones use flexible solar cells
Adidas Headphones has developed self-charging headphones using solar cells from Swedish supplier Exeger.
Built from 51% recycled plastics, the adidas RPT-02 SOL headphones remove the need for cables and allow consumers to be less reliant on charging from the grid. The headphones use Exeger’s dye sensitized solar cell (SC) technology that converts all forms of light into energy and works indorrs and out.
The adidas RPT-02 SOL is part of Zound Industries portfolio brands and includes a light indicator on the headband which helps detect the strongest light source to generate the best charge. The headphones are also IPX4-rated (sweat-proof and splash-proof) and come equipped with a companion app where users can track charging and battery status in real-time.
The flexible solar cells are integrated directly into the headband of adidas RPT-02 SOL and reduce the need to charge from the wall.
