
Semi equipment spending shows memory-logic divide
Geographically the data shows signs strong variation with many regions showing falls of 40 percent or even 50 percent in the case of Europe. Meanwhile two regions that are still active at the leading edge in the manufacturing of logic ICs, Taiwan and North America increased spending year-on-year by 47 and 15 percent respectively.

South Korea and Japan, heavily exposed to the over-supplied memory segment of the market reduced spending by 47 and 39 percent respectively.
The Europe and the Rest of the World regions, already the smallest in terms of manufacturing capacity, continue to shrink their spending on semiconductors.
