VePOINT becomes a 100% subsidiary of Semikron Automotive Systems GmbH & Co. KG and consequently part of the international Semikron Group. VePOINT is now able to draw upon the wealth of expertise that Semikron has built up over the past few decades, having established itself as one of the key developers and manufacturers of power electronics for the hybrid and electric vehicles sector.
In addition to the VePOINT takeover, Semikron has also recently entered into a joint venture with Drivetek, a service provider in the area of control engineering. Also, in 2010, it completed a takeover of the majority of Compact Dynamics, a development specialist for electric control and drive concepts.
VePOINT develops and produces power electronic components and systems such as inverters, DC/DC converters and charging devices for the automotive market, optimised for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. Its aim is to reduce the space occupied by these sub-systems, achieved by means of increased power density and a high degree of integration. VePOINT’s products are principally targeted at high-volume, Tier 1 systems integrators.
“With 50 employees, we are able to meet the ever increasing efficiency demands being placed on power semiconductor technology in the booming hybrid and electric vehicle market. Power electronics remains instrumental with regard to the future e-mobility sector, especially with a view to increasing emissions levels and the scarcity of resources,” explained Riccardo Ramin, Managing Director of VePOINT.
