Sensirion, a leading supplier of environmental and flow sensors, has acquired Qmicro BV for an undisclosed sum. Qmicro was formed in 2013 and makes miniature gas analyzers based on MEMS gas chromatography technology. Qmicro’s most important areas of application include industrial process control and natural and biogas characterization. The company has 16 employees.

Sensirion said that with its expertise in MEMS even further miniaturization and integration becomes possible. Sensirion can also bring its global marketing and sales network to bear benefiting both Qmicro’s and Sensirion’s customers.

One of the core applications of Qmicro’s technology is determining the calorific value of natural gas in distribution networks.
