The MAX12900 works by converting the microcontroller’s PWM signals into a current over a 4-20mA loop with two, three, or four-wire configurations. The device is highly accurate with up to 3.5x lower drift than other solutions at 10 ppm/oC and operates over a -40°C to +125°C temperature range. It comes in a 5mm x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN package, which integrates 10 building blocks for the 4-20mA sensor transmitter. These include a high-voltage LDO and power sequencing. The MAX12900 draws 250uA at maximum current.
