Sensors development board provides designers with precision accelerometer, pressure sensor and magnetometer
The board provides a next generation accelerometer, pressure sensor and a magnetometer to measure motion, altitude or pressure, detect magnetic fields and determine physical position.
The new board, which retails at $26.99, is available through Farnell element14 in Europe.
Designed to work with a range of key applications including mobiles and tablets, remote controls, game consoles, navigation and medical devices, the new development board for Xtrinsic sensors offers design engineers real flexibility and comes with a Freescale Freedom FRDM-KL25Z platform to help demonstrate the sensor board functionality. The FRDM-KL25Z is an ultra-low-cost development platform enabled by the energy-efficient Kinetis L Series KL1x and KL2x MCUs families built on the ARM Cortex-M0+ processor.
Device drivers and sample codes are also included to cater for the easy evaluation and demonstration of the performance of the sensors to measure motion, altitude, pressure, the detection of magnetic fields and physical position. In addition, each of the development boards comes equipped with a USB cable and quick start guide.
“With its precision sensing capabilities the new development board for Xtrinsic sensors is an ideal companion for the Freedom platform and gives developers a low cost, low barrier to entry solution for evaluation and development,” said David Shen, Group CTO at Premier Farnell. “The need for accurate, real-time sensing is becoming pervasive and we are excited about the opportunities this new platform offers our customers.”
Premier Farnell offers design engineers a space to share project concepts with 170,000 members in its award-winning online community element14, the first of its kind. Additionally the industry’s most comprehensive online knowledge resource for electronic design, the Knode on element14, is a first stop for any engineer undertaking a design project with a development kit.
Key features of the multi MEMS development board for Xtrinsic sensors include a Xtrinsic MPL3115 high-precision pressure sensor and a Xtrinsic MAG3110 low-power 3D magnetometer as well as a Xtrinsic MMA8491Q 3-axis digital accelerometer.
FRDM-KL25Z Freescale Freedom Development Platform features an ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU, up to 48 MHz and a 128 KB Flash, 16 KB SRAM.
