SerDes startup raises $15 million
The money will be use to expand research and accelerate the development, productization and deployment of Kandou’s Chord signaling SerDes technology (see Kandou SerDes capable of 1Tbit/s).
Kandou claims its technology delivers two to four times the bandwidth of traditional differential signalling at half the power consumption and is hopeful that is Chord signalling will find use in applications from smartphone SoCs to servers and high performance computing. The approach also delivers excellent signal integrity, strong resistance to common-mode and simultaneous switching noise, and a reduction of inter-symbol interference, Kandou states.
“We see Chord signaling as a game changer in semiconductors,” said Bessemer venture capitalist Felda Hardymon. “Kandou’s technology comes at a time when existing chip link technologies are failing.”
Bessemer is the United States oldest venture capital firm and has $4 billion under management.
