The cable adaptor includes RS-232, RS-485 as well as Power over Ethernet (PoE) options and integrates a web server, which enables connected devices to be both monitored and contacted remotely. AMC has also embedded a TCP/IP protocol stack, allowing the device to operate outside of the PC environment, and included a modem emulator.

The device is based on XPort from Lantronix and can be quickly and easily integrated into a system with minimal setup. Once connected, users can access its configuration utility, which includes AES security settings and lets them customise it to suit virtually any requirement of their network or serial device.

Users can communicate with existing software over TCP/IP via the NetPort II’s Virtual Comm Port drivers (on Windows operating systems) or via an alternative direct-socket connection.

AMC’s NetPort II complete network connectivity solution integrates a 10/100Mbps Ethernet port leading to a serial cable. It is shipped with an embedded web server and full IP stack and gives data transfer speeds of up to 921.6 kbps. The NetPort II includes 128/192/256-bit AES encryption and a range of power options, including Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). It has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
