Short-range wireless connectivity in implantable medical devices
The LBAA0PC1RMH298 module operates on the 402-405 MHz frequency band. It is able to support a data rate of 128 kbps and communicate at a range of up to 2m.
The new module has been developed for use in body-worn and implantable monitoring/diagnostic devices. It has the capacity to be used in the most data-intensive of operational requirements, with typical applications that include insulin, drug, and baclofen pumps, as well as arrhythmia and bladder monitors.
The module is manufactured in an ultra-small form factor, that measures only 8.6 x 5.6 x 1.7 mm, making it one of the smallest and most highly integrated solutions available. It uses Murata’s proprietary wireless technology. The technology integrates all of the key constituent active and passive components into one small package. The high level of integration provides elevated performance, and means the module has a very small power budget with a sleep state current consumption of just 0.2 µA.
“This latest addition to our Type 1RM family underlines the primary impetus behind Murata’s philosophy – to help create a better society by developing innovative, class-leading solutions,” states Rui Ramalho, Product Manager for Connectivity Modules at Murata. “Through our numerous MICS variants, and the unique bundling technology employed by them, Murata is helping to improve the lives of patients with serious health conditions.”
