Siemens, Semikron crank up power in e-car electronics
With a headcount of some 30 persons, VePOINT develops custom power solutions for automotive hybrid and all-electric powertrains based on Semikron’s SKiN technology. With these offerings, Nuremberg-based VePOINT complements Siemens’ product spectrum by offerings with power-density and power-to-weight ratio optimized for automotive applications. Through the VePOINT acquisition along with the increased power electronics product spectrum, Siemens Drive Technologies boosts the build-up of its new ‘Inside e-Car’ business unit. According to the terms of the agreement between Siemens and Semikron, both companies will continue the existing collaboration in the segment of power modules.
In product terms, Siemens expands its product spectrum of motors, inverters, engine speed sensors and transmissions through VePOINT’s inverter platform, characterized by compact design, high power density, low power-to-weight ratio and high reliability.
