SIM cards enable secure IoT connections
The “IoT Attach” and “IoT Advance” SIMs were developed together with mobile operators and IoT application providers. They not only enable mobile telephony providers to protect their networks, but also protect the IoT data as well as the lifecycle management of IoT devices.
These SIMs are pluggable and scalable products; further form factors are currently under development. The current solutions already meet the requirements of the mobile service providers for services and performance with a maximum of flexibility. Both SIMs include a security solution that protects data from the IoT endpoint through the LPWAN mobile IoT network up to the application server. In addition, IoT Advance provides additional flexibility for performance optimization, the root of trust for firmware updates via air interface (FOTA) and QoS (Quality of Service) solutions.
These SIM products meet the technical requirements of LPWAN-specific narrowband IoT (Narrowband IoT, NB-IoT) and Cat-M mobile radio IoT (also known as LTE Cat-M1 or LTE-M) and are based on industrial standards. They also support new business models and launch concepts for IoT scenarios with high numbers of users.
