The programming interface PCAN-Basic from the tool vendor PEAK-System for connecting own programs under Windows and Linux to CAN buses can now also be used comfortably in a .NET development environment. For this purpose, PEAK System Technik GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany) makes the assembly PCAN-Basic.NET freely available.
With PCAN-Basic.NET, applications can be created for various .NET environments such as .NET Core or .NET Framework. The former can also be used under Linux. The assembly offers new classes for improved handling of the most important CAN operations, e.g. extended filtering and periodic sending of CAN messages. A compatibility mode ensures the connection or porting of previous .NET projects.
For easy integration into Microsoft development environments, PCAN-Basic.NET is freely available as a package in the NuGet Gallery on the web. NuGet is Microsoft’s package manager for .NET.
